Representatives of the Green Balkans' "Life for Falcon" LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162 and "Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria" projects were guests of the Falconry Competition 2021, organized by the Bulgarian Falconry Union.

The competition, held for the ninth consecutive year, brings together falconers from Bulgaria and abroad, and the Green Balkans team is a traditional participant in the event.

This year we presented to the participants from Bulgaria and Romania our activities and results on Return of the Falcon in Bulgaria, dating back to 2000 and the new project "Life for the Falcon" LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162, funded by the EU LIFE program, in which our organization is a partner.

Special guests of the event were the Common kestrel Vladko, the Common buzzard Misho and the Red-tailed hawk Daisy - residents of the Center and part of our educational program.

The program of the meeting included a raffle, the biggest prize of which was a two-year-old male falcon. The falcon was won by Georgi Andonov, who to our great surprise and even greater joy decided to donate the bird to the breeding program of the Rescue Center!

Our team appreciates this gesture. We are glad that we are finding more and more new friends and like-minded people among the falconers, in the name of the protection of the Saker falcon in our country!

The "Securing the recovery of the endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162) project is of 5 years duration and receives funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.

The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is funded by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
