Griffon vulture chick has hatched in Green Balkans' Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center for second time in its history!

The baby team at the Green Balkans' Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center has increased with one more chick – this time Griffon vulture.

After 53 days of diligent incubation, yesterday the Griffon vulture egg pipped and on the next day the chick managed to escape the eggshell with a little help from its parents. This is not new for the father Belcho since he has already proven himself as a good parent, rearing one chick – Parvolet with his ex-partner Leshka in 2014.

For the young mother Nadezhda, on the other hand, this is the first offspring, but she is enough diligent and her excitement doesn't stop her from being caring. What we can do to help the parents is to provide them enough food, as they have been managing well with the rest so far.

Fingers crossed for the chick to grow healthy and strong and to follow the fate of his brother Parvolet, who is already wild and independent vulture, roaming free in the Central Balkan mountain in the region of Kotel and Sliven.
