On the 16-17.04.2022 was held the 8th edition of the Bulgarian Seed festival in Sevlievo, where the Green Balkans Staff took participation for yet another year, so we can introduce our work activities for the preservation of rare species in the country.

The festival is intended only for Bulgarian Producers. On the stands, one can find only Bulgarian products- herbs, seeds, flowers and products from local producers, and we showed our support for Bulgarian Nature and producers. As one of the New Horizons goals is raising awareness and the ecological culture of the public with Natura 2000 as using key species, the objective of which is preserving the network. On our stand, the public received information about the idea of the organization, about donations, about how everyone can contribute to the preservation of rare species, and the reintroduction of extinct species. They could also find several commercial materials, fliers and leaflets about the species and our work.

Besides that, we showed our activities on the “Life for Falcons” project as part of our work to familiarize the public with the species and our efforts for reintroducing it into the wild. There were life birds from the Green Balkans Rescue Center for wild animals as well as different life-size models of birds.

The sensation of the event was Romeo the Saker Falcon, who attracted many curious gazes and was the main topic of young and old.
Volunteers participated in the project as well and were happy to tell the visitors about our cause.

The two projects, Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons LIFE17 GIE/BG/371 /LIFEforBgNATURA/ and Securing the recovery of the Endangered Saker Falcon in Bulgaria and Southern Romania LIFE20 NAT/BG/001162 are with 5-year duration and financed by the LIFE program of the European Union.
