First chick of the year – a Griffon Vulture
20.02.2022The first chick for 2022 is a Griffon Vulture – the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Centre welcomed the first baby for the year. The young one is 157 grams, strong and healthy. It spent its first days in our special bird incubator and after a short period will be reunited with its parents.
This is the pair’s third chick after last year’s couple of eggs which they successfully hatched.
The Green Balkans’ Wildlife Rescue Centre’s activities for vultures are implemented within the ‘Bright Future for the Black Vulture’ LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 project. All chicks hatched within the program are released into the wild after a period of adaptation. Thus helping us recover vulture species in our country.
