Feeding birds of prey in winter

Feeding birds of prey in winter

28.01.2021
It’s winter! It is cold in the North and thick snow has covered everything!
It was at this moment that the team of Green Balkans headed towards Partizani village in the region of Provadia, where high in the rocks above the village is situated our Egyptian vultures feeding area.
We set on this somewhat risky journey on that chilly day of January to take food to the wild birds who find it very difficult to feed themselves on those days.
Of course, there are no Egyptian vultures there now, because they are at their winter lodgings far to the south. However, it’s important that we maintain the site even in their absence as there are ravens, buzzers, and other birds of prey who feed there at the moment.

The activity is funded by the Prague municipality and Prague Zoo under the “Protection of the Egyptian vulture on the Balkans ” project.
