The chick came into the world this morning, after the egg have stayed in the incubator of the Green Balkans’ Rescue center for three days.
This was needed after the first chick hatched in the aviary of the pair in Rescue center and the risk of competition between the offspring.
This is why the we decided to pull out the second egg of the pair and hatch it in the incubator. The team of the project “Egyptian Vulture New LIFE” (LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874) will take care of it until it becomes stronger.
And when it grows strong enough, it will be returned to its family!
This is the fourth Egyptian vulture chick hatched in the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center for 2019 and the second chick of the pair, donated to us by our friends from Prague zoo for the purposes of the project!
