Cleaning and disinfection of the adaptation aviary in Potochnitsa!

16.03.2020
During the weekend, a team from the Green Balkans Rescue Centrе and students from Trakia University visited the adaptation aviary near the village of Potochnitsa in the Rhodopes.

Built within the 'Egyptian Vulture New LIFE' (LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874) project in 2018, the aviary had to be prepared for its inhabitants this year, so our team cleaned and disinfected the aviary.

The aviary will be used as part of the project and will house two and three-year-old Egyptian Vultures. After a short stay in it, the vultures will be released. In the meantime, our colleagues and partners from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) will take care of the food of the birds.

During the short trek, the students had the opportunity to use the already acquired knowledge of bird recognition in flight. That way they were able to see a flock of Gray Herons, which stopped for rest on a tree.
