This year, too, the breeding season for the Egyptian vultures at the Green Balkans Rescue Centre has come to an end. And this, traditionally, gives rise to preventive examinations for them.
Yesterday the veterinarians of the Centre examined and dewormed the birds from the three pairs inhabiting our aviaries. Some had a pedicure to be fixed or their beak shortened.
We were happy to find that all the birds were in satisfactory condition, with normal weight and good plumage.
We remind you that the birds are with us as part of the activities of Green Balkans within the 'Egyptian Vulture New LIFE' project, and their important task is to hatch and raise youngs, the release of which helps the fragile population of the species in nature.
And this time the assistants of the veterinarians were students from the veterinary faculty of the Trakia University in practice with us and their colleagues from the same school, participants in the 'Student Internships' project of the Ministry of Education and Science.
