The Green Balkans team joined the annual ‘Balgarsko Seme’ festival. Both the ‘Bright Future for the Black Vulture’ LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 and the ‘Lesser Kestrel Recovery’ LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 projects traveled to Sevlievo to join the annual event along with our most active volunteers. Along with the many Bulgarian herbs, seeds, flowers and various other local products, we presented the various Green Balkans activities for the protection of wildlife. We shared ideas and causes with citizens, many of whom donated to our cause and learned more about the species we work to protect.
We met young and old enthusiasts who carry love and interest in nature and wildlife. All children met our hero Brent, the Red-breasted Goose and learned about his adventures from our educational book.
Another guest in our stand was the Black Vulture model presenting our work to reintroduce this rare species back into our wildlife within the ‘Bright Future for the Black Vulture’ LIFE14 NAT/BG/649 project. Along with the Lesser Kestrel models they were an attractive spot for photos for young and old alike.
Guests to our stand learned more from the vets and volunteers working at the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Centre – the only specialized place for the recovery of wild species in the country and about our various activities all over the country.
Initiatives like this help us meet people, popularize our work for the protection of rare species and habitats and gather their support and help for our activities. So we’d like to thank everyone who stopped and spent some time with us to share ideas, to donate or just to get a nice photo with some of the interesting species in our country. Thank you for joining us and to the organizers of the event, a big thank you for inviting us to share this interesting event!
