Bird rehabilitated at the Rescue Center found dead near Odessa27.01.2009
The adult bird was received for treatment at the Rescue Center in January 2008 from the region of Mramor village, district of Haskovo. Like the other 15 Swans, patients of the Rescue Center at that time, this bird was extremely exhausted from the long winter and the insufficient food. On February 13th, 2008, after almost a month’s stay and rehabilitation at the Center, seven rehabilitated Mute Swans, including the character of our story, were released into the wild at the Ovcharitsa dam. Unfortunately, a year later the bird wasn’t so lucky, and was finally found dead on the seashore of Odessa. Prior the release, the Swan was marked with a ring of the Bulgarian Ornithological Center, which made the identification possible. Despite the negative outcome, this information is extremely valuable to the team of the Rescue Center, because this is an undisputable confirmation of the achievement and success of our efforts and the need for being here.
