Yesterday, the team of the Green Balkans’ Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center was happily surprised to find out that the Barn owl pair has had their first chick for this year.
“There are 7 eggs in total in the family. The pair are with strong parental instincts, which not only take good care of their own chicks but also help raise wild orphaned babies, admitted in the baby sector of the Center through the years” our colleagues for the Center report.
Both birds in the pair have injuries, which make it impossible to release the birds back in the wild. But although they have found their second home in the Center, where they raise their offspring which will be released after they grow strong enough.
