The birds are from Austria, donated by our long term partners and friends from Verein Eulen- und Greifvogelschutz Österreich.
The way of the birds to Stara Zagora was long and not without mischief. The story began about a year ago when Dr. Hans Frey, founder of the Center in Austria, shared an information about two patients adult Saker falcons. The birds were found in an urban area with markings available. The owner was unidentified for several months and the birds ramained in storage in the Center in Haringsee.
A year later with the contribution of the Australian Ministry of environment and water, the two falcons and their three chicks, that have hatched this year, arrived safe and sound in Bulgaria.
From now on the chicks are going to be released in the adaptation aviaris of the “Saker falcon reintroduction to Bulgaria” project and the adults will remain in the Green Balkans` Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center as part of project`s the breeding stock.
This release was part of the “Saker falkon reintroduction to Bulgaria” project financed by Armeec insurance Jsc since 2012 until now.
