Another artificial Saker Falcon nest was placed

04.03.2020
An artificial Saker Falcon nest will attract future potential pairs of the species. It was installed days ago by the Rescue Center team.

The purpose of the nests is to attract newly formed pairs of falcons in search of a home. For this reason, the nests are placed near the release area of the young falcons hatched in the aviaries of the Green Balkans Rescue Center within the 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project.

Before installing the platform, we have to choose appropriate trees, select the shape and size of the base, and to make the metal base. We used straw, branches, and leaves to fill the nest. It took a long time to prepare it, but we were pleased that we coped in the end. We are moving forward as we must install many more facilities like this.

The “Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria” project is financed by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and  Armeec JSC
