After the active breeding season at the Rescue Center, the work continues!

01.09.2021
With the end of the breeding season for the birds in the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Center and the release of the young hatched this year, came the time when the feathered parents can indulge in a well-deserved rest.

This is also the time that the veterinarians use for the planned prophylactic examinations of the Center's permanent residents!

These days, for example, was the turn of the Saker falcons.

With the help of the veterinary medicine students from the Trakia University, interns at the Center, all 30 Saker falcons in our aviaries were gradually examined. The exam included the obligatory inspection of feathers, weight inspection, internal and external deworming.

And while the vets were examining, the rest of our team had taken on other tasks - cleaning, disinfecting, and deworming the aviaries, home to the falcon families.

The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is funded by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
