A total of 20 artificial nests will attract young Saker falcon pairs in search of a home!

Yesterday, a 'Reintroduction of the Saker falcon in Bulgaria' project team set up the last, twentieth artificial nest, provided for the project activities!

As part of our species restoration activities, the Green Balkans team had the difficult task of placing 20 artificial nests in the area of the release of the small birds hatched at the Rescue Centre.

We use the word difficult because the task was just that - from making special platforms to finding suitable trees, to transporting through thick bushes and dirt roads and positioning heavy platforms high in the branches of trees.

But, the goal justified all the efforts and difficulties that our team overcame, in the name of the return of this majestic bird to our country - the Saker falcon!

Now we have to watch and wait for the nests to be occupied by Saker falcon pairs looking for a home to raise their offspring!

We hope this will happen in the next breeding season. And, until then, our work to restore the species continues!

The 'Reintroduction of the Saker Falcon in Bulgaria' project is funded by Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund and Armeec JSC.
