...
A team from Green Balkans, a representative from the Trakia University – Stara Zagora working on the project “Digital shepherd”, and volunteers from the village were the group that renovated a watering trough close by the Dalgopolian village of Partizani.

The restoration of the spring is part of our activities to return the Egyptian vulture in the region by stimulating the local livestock farming, which corelates directly with the feeding habits of this species.

How did the two working days go…

Firstly, the area was mowed and the trash lying around was collected.

Afterwards, with the help of an excavator, a twenty-five meter canal was dug for the water – in that way the overflowing water in front of the spring will fall into the canal and that will prevent the place to turn into a swamp.

A catch basin with a grid and a lid was built in order to avert a siltation of the pipes with garbage.

In front of the spring, we poured gravel – coarse and fine.

Then the spring was primed, puttied and painted with exterior paint.

After two days of intense work, our team came home tired but satisfied from work well done!

We are gathering our strength for a second visit to the area, in which we are going to build a pavilion next to the watering trough in order for the shepherds to have coolness and respite and to have a place for an engaging talk between the residents and the villages` guests.
