Today, the veterinarians at the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre conducted a planned prophylactic examination of some of the vultures at the Centre. The black, bearded and griffon vultures pairs were examined as well as the lonely male griffon vulture in the visitors section.
Volunteers, representatives of the Plovdiv municipality and citizens who understood about the event from the Centre’s social media profile helped the veterinarians.
Prophylactic examinations at the Center are carried out twice a year - before and after the breeding season. As this moment is about to come, we have to make sure the birds are doing fine and prepare their cages for this key moment of the year.
Fortunately, all patients were in good health. And while the veterinarians were examining the birds, the volunteers together with the rest of the team cleaned the aviaries, built new nesting platforms for the birds, examined the perches and decontaminated all available surfaces.
