The final round of the National Ornithology Competition took place over the past weekend.
The event organised by our colleagues from BSPB took place on the premises of the Directorate of Persina Nature Park, Belene. There were the 20 finalists from a total of 133 participants in the first round of the competition - children from the 5th to the 8th grade, from various parts of the country.
We are happy to note that Simeon Petrov, our volunteer and student at Kolyo Ganchev Elementary School, Stara Zagora, placed eighth.
Along with his participation in the competition, with the common kestrel Vladko from the Rescue Centre of Green Balkans in hand, and with a little support from the Centre's team, he also gave a short lecture on Bulgaria's wounded wildlife. At the end of the presentation, all 20 finalists and their parents were invited to visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre of Green Balkans.
Another Stara Zagora representative and participant in a number of initiatives of Green Balkans and the Rescue Centre took the first place prize - Nikolay Dimitrov from "St. Nikola" Elementary School.
