Today, the little bearded vulture chick, hatched at the Green Balkans Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Center in Stara Zagora, is on its way to France.
The baby vulture, raised by the Green Balkans team is going to become part of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP), just like its mum and dad at the Rescue Center. The couple is the only bearded vulture pair in our country.
We wish the young bird much luck in its adventures! Our team continues its efforts for the vulture reintroduction in Bulgaria. Currently, we are working on a project for the reintroduction of black vultures, which will hopefully be followed by a bearded vulture reintroduction project!
Until then, there is still much work to be done, not only by our organization, but by all of us, as a society, to fight against illegal poisons, poaching and other threats to the species!
