With the arrival of spring, the team of the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre of Green Balkans decided to examine and release White Storks that had wintered in the Centre's aviaries.
The birds had arrived in the Rescue Centre in the fall of 2022. Some of them were left for treatment and rehabilitation, and others simply arrived too late to be released that year.
Out of over 20 storks, 10 birds were decided to be released following an examination by our veterinary team.
Prior to this, they were treated for internal and external parasites and marked with rings for individual identification.
Helpers of the Centre's team were students from the National Professional School of Veterinary Medicine "Ivan Pavlov" in Stara Zagora, which participate in project BG05М20Р001-2.015-0001 "Student practices - 2", funded by the Operational Program "Science and Education for Intelligent Growth".
Our hope is that the storks will be able to adapt successfully in nature, form pairs and raise their offspring!
10 White Storks which had wintered in the Green Balkans Rescue Centre were released back into the wild!
