This took place on the eve of May 21st - the day we celebrate the Natura 2000 ecological network.
At the event site, on the outskirts of the village of Partizani, guests learned more about the rare Egyptian Vulture that nests in the area, as well as the efforts of Green Balkans to support its population.
The festive programme included the release of a Common Kestrel and a Common Buzzard that had been successfully rehabilitated at the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Centre of Green Balkans, along with a presentation on nature conservation.
Before the event, the Green Balkans team and volunteers placed food at the local vulture feeding station near the village of Partizani. We also took the opportunity to clean up the area around the feeding site after local volunteers had already mowed it, and to fix some minor damage to the fence. The activities for feeding and maintenance of the feeding station are implemented with the financial support of the ICBP (International Center for Birds of Prey), Great Britain.
At the end, all guests received T-shirts and tote bags created by Green Balkans as part of project “Ptotection of the Egyptian Vulture in the Balkans” - funded by the City of Prague and Prague Zoo.
